A Galway island has been listed among the best destinations in Ireland according to Irish people.
Summer is upon us and as you do not need to fly away for the perfect holiday, Airbnb has shared the top destinations chosen by Irish people for their staycations.
Airbnb has this week revealed their list of the top ten most popular staycation destinations for Irish people according to their service users.
And beloved Inishmore, the biggest of the three Aran Islands, received the silver medal as it was named second in the list.
The only place Airbnb users love more than Inishmore is Letterkenny, in County Donegal, crowned at the top of the list.
Inishmore was then followed by Rosslare in Wexford, Dingle in County Kerry and Schull in County Cork.
But Irish Airbnb users fell in love with another Connach destination as Enniscrone in County Sligo was ranked fifth in the list, followed then by Kilkee in County Clare, Tralee in County Kerry, Tramore in County Waterford and Bundoran in County Donegal.
It is not the first time that Inishmore and the Aran Islands are praised nationally or internationally.
Just a few days ago, their beauty was captured by RTE in a new show that left viewers breathless.
The series is called Ireland’s Wild Islands and shows off the spectacular wildlife that inhabits the islands off the west coast of Ireland.
The series took three years to make and features some of the west’s most beautiful Atlantic Islands and the animals that inhabit them.
The show was shot in stunning 4K and is hosted by Ireland’s answer to David Attenborough, Eoin Warner, who sails the west coast on a beautiful 140-year-old Galway Hooker.
