Football fans in Northern Ireland have reacted angrily to the news that the Irish League Show will not be broadcast this season.
The half hour highlights show of the weekend’s action from the Irish Premiership was very popular amongst Irish League fans, many of whom were left disappointed by the news that the show had been axed.
Joel Taggart, who presented the programme, confirmed on Twitter the show would not be going ahead when asked when and where the highlights show would be on.
He replied: “None this season, sadly.”
Irish League fans responded venting their frustration and anger at the news.
@irishwill83 said: “Very disappointing. Irish League Show was really good production and important, in that not only did it recap highlights of action, but also provided analysis of the games – something that we don’t have in coverage of the Irish Premiership.”
@Michael_L03 agreed saying: “Big disappointment to not have a highlights show every gameweek, feels like another step back for the league to become bigger.”
@LewisBUFC: “1 step forwards 2 steps back for the league. It’s attracted the most interest it’s ever had and it’s full of potential, mystery why the BBC etc don’t properly capitalise on it.”
@alanp1771 wrote: “Clearly BBC Sport NI have no interest in the local game. Be interesting to hear what their reason is.”
