IRELAND’S rudest place name has been revealed and it’s worse than some crude names such as Middlefart and Bendova.
This summer, drivers looking for a giggle have been encouraged to take on Europe’s rudest road trip, and surprisingly one of the worst-named places is in Ireland.
Spunkane in Co Kerry has drawn much attention over the years due to its unusual name.
The small town on the West Coast of Kerry is a popular holiday destination with stunning ocean views, making it a huge hit with visitors.
However, it has now been named as a stop-off location for those embarking on Europe’s rudest road trip.
From Condom in France to Middelfart in Denmark, holiday car rental experts at StressFreeCarRental.com have researched Europe’s most offensive place names to create the ultimate route for brazen travellers.
With cheeky places dotted all over the old continent, the rude road trip takes drivers across several countries to catch a glimpse of all of Europe’s crudest spots.
France, Switzerland and Italy are just three countries motorists will tick off as they embark on the road trip to hunt down these wacky locations.
As drivers make their way through Italy, they will travel to a beautiful seaside location that boasts some of Europe’s best emerald-coloured waters, called Piscinia, which is crudely pronounced ‘piss-in-arse’.
The UK is also home to some of the worst names, with Brown Willy in England, Three Cocks in Wales and Twatt in Scotland causing many curled lips as road trippers travel through.
Locals who reside in some of the offensively named locations have been so ridiculed by visitors and their bad jokes that local councils have been forced to change these historic names.
Fugging in western Austria, which dates back to the 11th century, was recently renamed from F****ng after it became a popular stop-off point for both the media and tourists to ridicule.
The Mayor of Fugging, where the residents are known as f***iners, said dozens of their signposts were stolen, resulting in local authorities having to erect new signs in theft-resistant concrete, helping the case for the name change.
A spokesperson for StressFreeCarRental.com said: “Those looking for the most eccentric road trip this summer should look no further.
“We have created the rudest road trip in Europe, which is bound to be the wackiest drive you’ll ever take.
“From Spunkane in Kerry, Ireland to Condom in France, Europe delivers on providing outrageous locations to give the traditional road trip an extreme edge.
“With some councils already having to change the names of places deemed offensive, many of these places may soon have to get rid of their quirky names.
“Stick on your cheesy playlist and visit these crude spots all across Europe – make sure to take a selfie with the rudest signposts for the perfect social media post.
“Europe’s rudest road trip starts in Scotland and finishes in Sweden; reaching 15 different countries, taking drivers eight days and covering 14,854 km if driving non-stop.”
Starting at Twatt in Scotland, the road trip covers over 14,800 miles and is estimated to take over 190 hours, calculated using the distance to each location if driving non-stop.
